Expectations

This journal entry was written back in February
~Expectations, we all have them- good or bad, right or wrong, high or low, they exist. In relationships with family, friends and lovers. In churches for pastors, small groups or ministries- expectations exist.
When expectations are not met- disillusionment and disappointment set in and more often than not we search elsewhere for those expectations to be met and our longings to be filled.
It seems as though marriages are failing all around me, in most cases infidelity is the impetus for the home to crumble and somewhere along the way expectations were not metfor one reason or another.
As I sat in church this past Sunday I thought of Eliza and Jonathan where this truth of unmet expectations and infidelity are their reality~leaving their home in fragments and their hearts changed forever.
For some of my friends this was their first Valentine's Day along because of unmet expectations.
To those whose hearts have been changed...this is for you.
Expectations Unmet
two hearts together yet slightly apart
trying to beat and breathe as one heart
Expectations high and completely unmet
Is this all there is ~ all I get?
Where should i go, what should be done?
I'm going to leave and seek out some fun
one heart beating and feeling so free
one heart dying ...HOW could this be?
Not thinking of dreams and promises made
lines of black and white slowly fade
SELFISH heart seeking its own
Broken heart now living alone
Dreams unmet ~ expectations too high
Convincing themselves it was all a lie
Bring healing dear Lord~
Be a balm to the soul
Bring healing dear Lord~
Make this heart completely whole
